Katia was born and raised in Tijuana, Baja California, México. She received her bachelors in Television, Film, and New Media with an emphasis in Production from San Diego State University, where she was also a scene shop and soundstage supervisor. Looking to expand her skillset, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue an MFA in Production Design from the American Film Institute. Her AFI thesis film “TREE #3” was nominated for the 39th College Television Awards (Student Emmys) for best Comedy, and won the Bronze for Narrative Drama in the 2019 Student Academy Awards. She has also been a part of diverse art departments for projects such as“Our Flag Means Death”, “Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania”, and Jon Watts’s “WOLFS”.
Katia is now a member of the Local 800 as an Art Director and Senior Set Designer.
